Architecture originates at the human scale. Each aspect of the design should consider the experience of the occupant, both functional and sensory. But just as human beings are not static, the scale of the design fluctuates from the haptic greeting of a door handle to the project’s place in its local context. Architecture encompasses the site, the materials and the journey in-between. And at each of these scales decisions must be made, which not only elevate the design from building to experience, but are also ecologically and socially responsible.
This is architecture.
